We at Abba Property Solutions take immense pride in providing top tier services for our customers and remain mindful of how we can make any emergency situation as simple and stress free as possible.

Abba Property Solutions’ CEO, Craig Henderson, shares, “When looking back at this year and seeing the direct effects Covid has had on our community, I am honored that our team could ease the burden of further damage and suffering in Jacksonville. We may not meet in the happiest of circumstances, but I’m proud that our team can help our customers get smiles back on their faces and families back home sooner! You, the customer, is the most important part of our process. Thank you for your trust and faith in Abba to enter your lives as part of the solution.”

We Are Blessed With Our Staff

Our dedicated staff of general contractors, water damage repair experts, customer service representatives, and project managers are second to none! We are so proud of the work they have accomplished throughout this year!

Our water mitigation team, comprised of Garrett Schanck, Lori Craft, Ricardo Pardo, Mark Novak & Dylon Halleran lived in hotels during the midst of Hurricane Season to deploy into areas hit hardest. They had a goal to be the first on the scene as soon as sunlight broke. Because of their 24/7 dedication to help remove water damage and salvage affected homes, we were able to help over 20 families get back on their feet sooner!

Heading Into Thanksgiving and Black Friday

With family gatherings- either digital or socially distanced, and plenty of deals on the horizon, Abba urges those we care about to practice CDC-based suggestions at this time. Hundreds of companies have shifted their sales digital this year, so consumers can enjoy tradition without compromising their safety. Take advantage of deals and steals from the comfort of your home and enjoy the technology and advancements we have at our fingertips to keep tragedy out of our homes this Thanksgiving.

Additionally, when browsing deals, take a look at home improvement and hardware store offerings, such as The Home Depot or Lowe’s, for home safety items that can prevent head and heart ache in 2021! Whether you want to check out sales on fire extinguishers, smart systems for heating and cooling, carbon monoxide alarms, home surveillance sales, or sump pumps, odds are they are available at a bargain price.

Invest in your family, your friends, and your health this year! Be safe and practice gratitude and thanks a bit extra tomorrow. After all, we have so much to be thankful for with a community as strong as ours!

Home Water Damage: How To Handle It With Ease

home water damage being repaired by water mitigation professional in jacksonville fl
Whether from a wild storm or a leaky pipe, home water damage can happen when you least expect it. When it does, it's best to know how to handle the situation quickly and efficiently. Often, water damage takes time to occur, so taking care of it the moment you notice the problem is critical. Luckily, if you've noticed home water damage, Abba Property Solutions is here to help you resolve the situation and give you the tools and assistance you need to proceed with confidence.

Look For Signs of Home Water Damage

Home water damage can be a slow burning problem or a rapid issue. For some, you won’t notice any water damage until something more drastic, such as a collapsing ceiling or crumbling drywall, occurs.

Discoloration in your drywall, yellow stains, musty or damp odors, and a decrease in sink, shower, or toilet water pressure can be telling signs of a pipe leak. If you notice any of these signs, then take action immediately to discover a potentially larger issue.

Other times, a large storm or a massive pipe breakage can cause immediate, devastating damage. Larger damage, while easier to spot, can cause devastating home water damage in next to no time at all.

Turn Off Your Water Source

The moment you notice a leak in your home, turn off your main water source. For some leaks, they’ll be near your water heater, washing machine, or a faucet. In these cases, oftentimes the valves are nearby and can shut off water to that specific area.

If you're not sure where the leak is coming from, it’s best to shut water off from the main source, typically found at the front of your home near the street.

Try to Contain Standing Water

In smaller floods, try to contain the water to a specific area and not let it spread. Lay out old towels or other absorbent materials to control the spread of standing water.

If you have a sump pump, use this to pump water out of the damaged space. If the entirety of your house is flooded due to a large storm or maintenance issue, place your safety first and remove yourself from the situation for the time being. Then, come back when the water levels have receded on their own and the area has been deemed safe to reenter by an emergency professional.

Move At-Risk and Valuable Items

Whether or not the water appears to be spreading, remove any at-risk items from its path. When safe, electronics should be moved out of the path of the water. However, if the water is deep or it’s unknown whether an electronic has already been water damaged, turn both your electricity and water off.

Move your pictures, books, and other sentimental items away from damage zones as well. While items such as ceramics can be easily cleaned after the fact, so if time is of the essence, focus your efforts on textiles, paper products, and legal documents. There are also steps you can take to restore your items if you were unsuccessful at clearing them away prior to home water damage.

Call Your Local Plumber

While your first instinct may be to call a water damage restoration expert, your plumber must fix the source of the leak before any water damage repair can take place. If the flooding wasn't caused by a plumbing source, then go ahead and call your local water damage mitigation experts.

For the Jacksonville, FL area, Abba Property Solutions is your one-stop-shop for water damage rehab and renovation. Once the source of the leak is determined, we can come in and quickly work with your insurance provider to properly dry and restore your home back to its best condition. The sooner we can get in to dry the structure, the better so there’s less time for mold to develop.

Call your Insurance

This is a step where companies like us can also assist you. You’ll want to include pictures of the damage and property losses suffered from the incident. Abba works in conjunction with your insurance company as a preferred contractor to provide what they’ll need to get the best coverage possible.

While flooding is something that you never want to think can happen, it's vital to have a plan in place and know that there’s people you can rely on to get you back on your feet.

Water Damage in Your Business: Prepare Your Employees to Respond Swiftly

9/15/2020

Closed sign for water damage jacksonville fl. Sorry we're closed. Storefront.
When operating a business, we have to think of worst case scenarios and have plans in place for all “what ifs”. We take out insurance, we monitor our security, and we train our employees on safe money handling and various operational procedures. But aside from these main precautions, is your business really ready to handle an emergency? Do your employees know how to handle sudden water damage? Abba Property Solutions is here to provide you with solutions that can help you to confidently say, “yes, we’re ready!”

How to Prepare Your Employees to Respond Swiftly.

When water damage strikes, how you and your employees immediately handle the emergency is key to the recovery of your business. The difference between a bump in the road and a massive loss of revenue, stock, and property can hinge upon your level of preparedness.

Here are some easy steps to help prepare your business to react confidently.

Take the Precautionary Measures.

  • Ensure your business has water damage insurance. If you already have business and property insurance, double check what is covered and what your deductible would look like for different scenarios.
  • Have property inspections done routinely on your commercial property. This can ensure that your AC units, pipes, and structural integrity stay in top condition.

Develop a Water Damage Action Plan, and Practice It!

Having a plan won’t do you any good unless your employees stay fresh on how to implement it. When every second counts, you don’t want time for guesswork and hunting for a procedure list or binder to waste them!

  • Facilitate the training of your employees on how to operate electrical breakers, water valves, and equipment that can be used to aid in water control.
  • Maintain a list of contacts for emergencies, such as management’s direct lines, a water mitigation expert, and local emergency responders.
  • Identify high value items that should be top priority to secure from potential water damage.

Get Employees Hands On.

  • Let them know as soon as possible how disruptions will affect working hours, operational capacity, and expectations for the near future.
  • Encourage employees to provide potential solutions to continuing operations while damage assessment and renovations take place. Perhaps they’ll have an idea that could help your business to not take a major hit in revenue.

Water Damage: The Dangers of Wet Drywall

8/7/2020

Water damage repair, water damage restoration
It’s a sight you never want to see- you’re walking around your house and you lock your eyes on a bubble on your wall. Your mind starts to race as you try to think what could be causing the water damage to your drywall. Water damage repair on drywall could be an easy fix, but sometimes, the damage might be much more than what you see on the surface. Use the following information to assess possible water damage and learn how the experts at Abba can help you.

The Bad Side of Drywall Water Damage

Structural Integrity

When drywall gets wet, the wall’s structure weakens. Even if you notice that it’s dried and a stain is present, it is now weaker than it once was, and should be replaced.

Mold Growth

Anything that’s exposed to water for long periods of time, especially drywall, is bound to end up with mold growth if you don’t act on it quickly. According to FEMA, mold can grow on surfaces in 24 to 48 hours. This mold growth can make the living space hazardous to you and your family’s health.

Electrical Hazards

Like we mentioned earlier, water damaged drywall can be more than meets the eye. If electrical wires contact this moisture, it poses a threat of a fire or power surge in your home. Take extra precaution by turning off power from the main circuit breaker before investigating further.

How We Can Help You

Water damage in your home should not be taken lightly. Here at Abba Property Solutions, we know how stressful an event like this could be for you and your family. That’s why you can trust us to complete your home’s water damage restoration with the utmost care, and help minimize the worry of the situation, big or small.
